Non-Surgical Procedures

We provide laser treatments, botox, fillers, intense pulsed light treatments and skin care products.

Patients request for non-surgical procedures because they are less invasive. They may be cheaper initially. However, when the cost of repeated procedures are added up, they may be as costly as surgery (and less effective?).

There have been many innovations that seek to replace surgery. Although these procedures have their uses, they are not as effective as surgery. Before you agree to these procedures, it is important to find out the efficacy and longevity of the effect.

Dr Sim rarely does injectable rhinoplasty. It is usually done to raise the nose bridge, but the nose often looks disproportionate and unnatural. There are potential long term complications from permanent fillers. Should a serious complication occur, it cannot be removed completely. A surgically inserted implant can be easily and completely removed to restore the nose to its "original" appearance.

Things to consider when contemplating Cosmetic Surgery:

1) Have realistic expectations and discuss them with your surgeon. The most common problem in cosmetic surgery is that a patient feels his/her expectations have not been met. A patient’s dissatisfaction is usually because of “too much, too little or both sides don’t look the same”.

2) Do not be embarrassed about having cosmetic procedures. Some people come for them secretly and do not want anyone to notice anything when they get back to the office. If you expect no one to notice a difference, why have any cosmetic surgery in the first place?

3) Most procedures require a period of recovery. There are very few procedures that produce wonderful results but require no recovery time and leave no bruises or swelling.

4) Expect some people who will make uninformed and insensitive remarks about your surgery.
