Facial plastic & reconstructive surgery

rhinoplasty

Rhinoplasty is probably a Facial Plastic Surgeon’s favourite surgical procedure. It is not always done to modify the appearance of the nose. It is sometimes done to correct a blocked nose caused by:
1. crooked nose
2. collapsed nasal valves
3. trauma

When Rhinoplasty is done for cosmetic reasons, the commonest requests are:
1. raise the nose bridge
2. make the tip sharper
3. make the base of the nostrils narrower

Upper Lid Blepharoplasty

Upper Lid Blepharoplasty is usually done to:

1. remove excess skin from the upper eyelid

2. create an upper lid crease – the so-called “double eyelid”.  This can be done with and “without” cutting skin

Many clinics do not warn patients that excessive skin at the corner of the eye (lateral hooding) may not be corrected by upper eyelid surgery alone.

Lower Lid Blepharoplasty

Upper Lid Blepharoplasty is usually done to:
1. remove excess skin from the upper eyelid

2. create an upper lid crease – the so-called “double eyelid”.  This can be done with and “without” cutting skin

Many clinics do not warn patients that excessive skin at the corner of the eye (lateral hooding) may not be corrected by upper eyelid surgery alone.

Facelift

A face-life, or Rhytidectomy, does not actually lift the face. It lifts the neck and the jowls. The earliest face-lifts only tightened skin. The problem was that the effects were not long-lasting. Later modifications were made to improve the effectiveness and longevity of the effect.  There are variations of the original e.g. mini-lift, thread lift.

Browlift

As the name suggests, this procedure is to lift the eyebrows. This procedure is commonly done together with upper-lid blepharoplasty. When there is significant drooping of the eyebrows, they need to be lifted before upper eyelid skin is removed.

Otherwise, just removing upper eyelid skin only makes the eyebrow fall further.

non-surgical treatments

For those who do not wish to have surgery, there are alternatives like:

1. Laser treatments
2. Botox
3. Fillers
4. Skin Care products
