Rhinology

Here are some of the common nasal problems we see:

Is your nose blocked because of nasal allergy, a deviated septum or nasal polyps? A common problem we see are patients with blocked noses that do not respond well to medication.  It is important to examine whether there is something that is physically obstructing the nasal passage e.g. polyps, anatomical deformities of the nose.

Bleeding Nose (Epistaxis)

Nose bleeds in children are common and are usually from the nostril area.  This is usually solved with cautery in the clinic.  In adults, there is usually the concern that it may be something more. 

 

Nasopharyngeal Cancer is especially common among Southern Chinese.  Many people come for an ENT examination because of symptoms like: blocked ear, blood-stains of their mucus and enlarged neck nodes.  Here is some data from the National Cancer Registry. 

 

This cancer usually visible with nasal endscopy, that is done in the clinic in a few minutes.
